update

wow.  been so busy lately.  haven't felt like blogging much...on the personal or business end.  wake up dago.

well, summer carpal tunnel surgeries and lazy recuperating days seem like a million miles away.  being away from the business for those couple to three months gave me a sort of new perspective on my little work world.  in my return back to the cake biz i decided to limit myself in the amount of orders that i take in per week.  i really want to be kinder to my hands after knowing what it would be like to lose the use of them.  wedding and groom's cake inquiries have grown exponentially all of a sudden, which is something that i have been wanting.  i love making the cute little birthday cakes and such, but i found that i could work myself to death with all of that and knew the big bucks were in the larger wedding and groom cake market.  i guess God  saw fit to reward my attempt to be faithful in the small things, because it seems when i came back into the kitchen it was like a racehorse exploding out of the starting gate.  these latest wedding/groom's cakes have challenged me so much.  it has required so much more concentrated focus and i am sure that my skill level has increased.  on the whole i am pleased and very very thankful, and looking forward to the ones to come.

i have decided to forego the wholesale king cake business this year, as there is no way i can duplicate the build-up of previous years and charlie's success of  last year.  and as i reflect back on the previous years i do understand that pulling the weight of that load by myself contributed in a big way to landing me on my dear dr. robichaux's operating table not one, but two times! of course i'll still sell them retail out of my own shop, but the days of delivering a hundred or so to kelly's in new roads plus my own retail orders are over as long as annie's pantry consists of me, myself and i.  we'll see what the future holds as it unfolds.

in other news, my recent bone scan showed osteoperosis in my spine and upper femur/hip areas.  my doc put me on the official medication....once per month for 5+ years.  great.  so finally, like i should have been doing for the past 2 years ever since i've been on bone-watch, i have signed up at a gym for some regular exercise and weight bearing whatever.  i suck at doing any of that stuff on a regular basis at home.  funny how we put stuff off sometimes until it becomes mandatory.  so now i have to have to have to change my lifestyle in such a way that i have to have to have to get it done.  or, like julie says, whatever.

i been thinking that i promised several entries ago to jot down a little history of growing up as a child of my mother's side of the family...the lecoq's.  coming soon to a blog near you.
