so tired tonight. made delivery of the largest and most expensive wedding cake ev-ver. God was on my side:) He is my helper, my creativity, and He ALWAYS has my back! i was very pleased with the way it came out and was able to match the blossom color to the table skirting exactamundo, yaay! i'm really looking forward to the feedback on this one from the bride and her mom. it just fit in perfectly with the whole room decor and i have a suspicion that i made their cake dreams come true. thank you Jeesus!! the cake had vines twining around it which i made out of modeling chocolate (melted chocolate chips with karo). so much fun and easier to work with than fondant for this sort of thing. and it tastes just like tootsie rolls. i am feeling a breath of fresh air concerning my wedding cakes, and feeling the courage to try new things. one of my customers encouraged me to make my own fondant. i have a recipe for it and she has done it before and says it tastes excellent and is not as hard to deal with as i may think. i agreed that maybe. perhaps. possibly?:) i may make some and use it for her daughter's cake. we'll see. i guess it depends on if i have the time to do a practice run beforehand. i'm also feeling a little bit of desire to be really courageous & begin to branch out into some simple sugarpaste flowers. yep, i'm likin' my little cake decoratin' biz pret-ty good these days. it is my Father's gift and i'm so grateful that He gives me the perseverance to hang on through the tough times so that i can enjoy these times of freshness.
i must admit however, my wrists do get a bit tired and just a tad sore after a hard week of decorating. i best keep that in mind and not overdo it if ya knowwhatimean.
This pic was taken BEFORE the tear in the brown foil on the cakeboard was repaired, ugh. AND before the florist placed the antiquated bride and groom topper (the bride's grandparents') on the top and accented it with a few flowers. we had to leave before she did that, but i'm kind of hoping she didn't add any of those white flowers i saw nearby to the top!
well, mawmaw's spending the weekend and tomorrow will be a day full of foxy fun. nite!
It's fantastic!! I'm glad our kids will have the coolest birthday cakes ever. I remember my very favorite one was the year my mom forgot to put eggs in the cake and had to buy a cool one from Baskin Robins :) Yours are even better than Baskin Robins!
