full day

good even-ing.

today was interesting and included:

my yearly checkup with dr. shay, my friendly and beautiful ophthamologist (word?).  you know, the ones that do it all.  it seems that my eyes are playing tricks on me.  well, not really, but let me see if i can explain this in layman's terms.  the examination showed that my far-sightedness is not AS BAD as it has been, while  my near-sightedness remains the same (i think).  because of this a new eyeglass prescription was written for me.  however, i should keep the old glasses because i will need them for close-up work.  apparently a tri-focal has not been invented that can handle the difference in my near sight and far sight and whatever is in between sight.  confused?  oh yes, thank you.  new lenses will cost me in the $350-$400 range, not including the frames.  i priced them in two places today.  i'm thinking i'll keep the old glasses and look over the tops of them when driving, etc. like i have been doing.  of course the new lenses would help that and things in the distance would be more crystal clear, but well, ugh.

also, this is something to consider for anyone who disses having checkups on your eyes.  i (and numerous others) have a "freckle", a dark spot in the inner chamber of my left eye...in the rear eye wall, behind the retina and all that jazz. it was detected last year at my annual eye exam and was measured on a specifically designed machine. this "freckle" can develop into a melanoma in 1 in 9000 people.  quite the odds, but still.  gives me incentive to keep current on my eye checkups.  today it was reported that there are no changes and that is a very good thing.  dr. shay's teenage son also has one, so it appears age has no bearing on it.  so....get your eye exams already, ya'll.

i also know what it is to be legally blind and driving in traffic....whoops.  you know those dang drops they put in your eyes.  i had the plastic shades they gave me underneath my own transition lens glasses and still had a hard time with the glare and distortion.  i made it to cleggs nursery in one piece and proceeded to have the truck loaded up with garden soil and mulch.  yes!  finally fancying up the triangle bed!  i unloaded it all this afternoon and spread it (gonna need some more).  when i am finished i shall take a pic and show off my new garden creation.  i'm having fun in the yard ever since i cut back on my kitchen work in preparation for school in the fall.  i feel so empowered  when i say "i'm sorry, but i'm booked that weekend", and i only have two cakes.  the bank account will suffer, but hey, a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.  spring fever never felt so good!

speaking of classes in the fall.  dang brcc.  they haven't opened up fall registration yet.  they finally put the class schedules up but registration has not been enabled.  i was looking through them last night.  ok.  math 094 and english 101. how hard can that be.  i got me several different scenarios as far as class times & teachers go.  it brought to my remembrance the kids trying to put together a full time schedule.  oh gosh, that must have been murder.  i do remember looking over risa's shoulder a time or two when she was agonizing over it, but until you do something yourself, it just don't seem real.  and this is only TWO classes, duh.  i don't know what ima do when i pull a full-time load.  sure hope that happens one day:)

today was fox sitting, and i picked him up from pre-school on the way home.  he got a haircut last night and so was cute as a button.  we had a nice afternoon which included a 30 minute tag-team fishy story while pushing him on the swing. he's getting really good at it and always says, "no mimi, that's not the end of the fishy story yet......!"  oh my, there was schizzy the shark, mary nicole, dolcy the dolphin, starley (who joined everyone at the beach later in the story when he popped out of the trunk as they were loading their gear to go home), daniel tiger, calliou and his little sister rosey, peppa pig and her brother george, fox and his dad and mom and mimi., and sela and chai (who both knocked over fox's dad's aquarium and the fishies were flopping all over the floor, but risi came to the rescue and helped fox's daddy put them all back in).  the rest of everybody had many adventures including going to the beach at grand isle and seeing dolphins playing in the waves, finding a beautiful shiny clam shell and making it into a necklace for mary nicole, visiting the dinosaur exhibit and falling into the dinosaurs mouths, having sleepovers at schizzy's house and telling fishy stories all night, everyone getting sick and throwing up everywhere, calling the doctor to bring them some medicine and then they all accidentally bit him on the arm so schizzy's mommy had to bandage it up, eating circle candy and ball candy and ice cream cones, and having all sorts of other fantastical adventures....well, it would take me about 30 minutes or more to write them all:)

the end.
