me, myself and i

breaking news.....

i will be a single in italy. though i will sorely miss my friend and buddy in all things italian, and though i do so wish my hermit husband would share just a teensy bit of my own taste for travel & actually step a foot out of louisiana and go with me....it's official. it will be me, myself and i.....along with uncle woots and aunt nutsie....and a tour bus full of fellow turistas, of course. i am sad. i am happy. i am afraid. i am excited to see what God will bring my way. i've never really known what it is for it to just be...me. i've been "connected" all my life. first to my parents. then, married fresh out of high school, to my husband of 36+ years.

there are certain things i have never had the courage to done alone. here's a really dumb thing... i will order food through the drive-thru and eat in my car in the parking lot rather than go into a restaurant and eat at a table alone. i think i am afraid of being alone while in the midst of other people in some weird way. ahh soo, insecurity rears its goofy head. i mean, i like to work alone (i can focus better on tasks when i'm by myself); i like to shop alone if i am looking for something specific or have certain supplies that i need to purchase (window shopping or just stepping out with the girls is not included in this). yes, i am very task oriented. but i am also a pretty gregarious & vivacious people person when i want or need to be (which is usually whenever i am around, well...people:) i was so proud of myself when several months ago i actually went to a movie....alone. never did that before. i enjoyed it immensely. then there was the time several years ago that i registered myself for a children's ministry conference in Kansas City, Mo... booked my plane flights & hotel reservations, traveled to Nola... alone.... and flew out of the half-shut-down post-Katrina Nola airport.....rented a car at the Kansas City airport, mapped out the routes from my hotel to the venue, introduced myself to and requested a most informative lunch with the leaders of the children's ministry in that particular church.....and made it back home safe and sound. that my dear blog, was definitely a first for me....and as you can see i am still so proud of the fact that i handled all of these little details successfully.....alone.

and so we will see what italy and those i will meet along the way brings to me. or... what i will bring to italy and the people i will meet along the way, hey?

in other news, i am thinking about starting a food blog in connection with my bakery biz. still got some things to consider on that one, but it looks promising. and in that blog i will most definitely use the shift key, dearie:} so yes, i am keeping it before the Lord that this summer full of travel and arm/hand surgery recuperations will yield a harvest....and i do so pray that it is a bountiful one.
