hello my blog. how are you today? you are serving very nicely as a storage for annie's memoires, or somethin' like that....
spent the last day and a half babysitting with a fox. mommy is out of town for a work conference, so i pitched in for some serious gammie time with my sweet precious grandbaby boy. yes, he is most definitely "all that" in my book:) some highlights for posterity (and gammie's memory that has a tendency to vanish away like sticky bubbles...although my sweet blog is helping me to mine some of those that have been buried and long forgotten).
* fox is becoming quite proficient in walking, although he looks like a little drunk munchkin and it is SO funny. i had lots of opportunities to observe him in action, much to my great delight. he also has a pretty comprehensive language all his own, as i believe i stated in an earlier post. his mommy serves as a great interpreter, and it's a lot of fun to be around him a while and actually get in on the fun.
* after naptime yesterday we took a little trip to barnes and noble. of course he had to bring in his companion... a well-worn book from his own collection from home....his ca-ah ("do cows eat cake?") book that he currently adores. at one point i had it under my arm while he was browsing around and he must have missed it all of a sudden, so he proceeded to wander all over the store calling out ca-ah....ca-ah....at every turn. at first i didn't realize what was happening, i was just enjoying following him around watching the aforementioned little adorable swagger and chatting it up behind him. finally, when we got to the other side of the store, i could tell he was getting kind of tuckered out from his trek, as he had begun falling down more than usual. so i got down on the floor with him and he saw what i had under my arm and exclaimed, "ca-ah"!!!! bingo. he grabbed the book with great delight and that was that:) i did buy him a thomas the train book, but only because it had a little keyboard attached to it. he seemed to enjoy fiddling with it. perhaps he and dad can get something going with the guitar and keyboard or something...you never know:)
*this morning we went on a little adventure together. i had a few things to pick up at walmart and so we hit the road. we had a blast meandering through the store. there was a little rambunctious kid running and screaming. well, that was all fox needed. apparently, as i found out on more than one occasion today, when he hears another child scream with delight, he is honor-bound to join in the fun. fox loves to scream with delight. we walked down the baby paraphanalia aisle just so i could hear him say "ba-bee" over and over again. i needed cat food and so the whole way down the cat food aisle all he said was "mauw" as he pointed to the cat pictures on every bag and box. ......and then......we turned the corner......and.... much to our happy surprise.....phf!!! that's right, tanks and tanks of beautiful, colorful...PHF!!! we stayed there going back and forth from one tank to the other for quite some time. highlight of the day.
*on the way home from walmart we made a pass at a small park that his mom had blurbed me about. what a cool little place. we swang together and apart and he walked around and around the little sidewalk that encircled the small space, practicing that drunken little swagger again. i did get some video and will try to post if my crazy computer will allow. of course there were other children there, sometimes screaming with delight as they ran and played, so of course fox had to join in on that craziness. it's so funny how his response is immediate and LOUD! it makes him a happy happy boy.
*well...i had to sing PRETTY loud to keep him awake til we got home. he was one tuckered out little boy. he promptly fell asleep on my lap in his room, his face pressed against his ca-ah book in the crook of my arm. and then i kissed him goodbye as i laid his sleepy little head in his sleepy little bed, as daddee was home for the duration of mommy's time away.
*i gave fox a book for christmas. one of those that you can record your voice reading the book. i am so thrilled that he likes to pull it down off of his shelf, all the while chanting, mee-mee, mee-mee......i told nic yesterday that i wondered if he had put together that mee-mee is.....me!... as he never actually calls me mee-mee to my face, only in reference with his mom and dad. and so i have a hunch that it is quite the possibility that gammie has been shortened to mee-mee by a tiny linguistically ingenious swaggering munchkin and a sly little fox indeed.
the end. or rather, to be continued..............
p.s. i just realized that i sure did use the word "delight" a lot here, just sayin'
I loved reading all of these little memories, Aunt Annie! Thanks for sharing.
