sigh
my friend has alzheimers. she's sinking lower and lower into confusion and forgetfulness. i want to cry but for some reason the tears will not come. today i picked her up for church as i usually do on wednesdays when i attend. her husband was out of town on a short business trip, which he is from time to time. i'm starting to think that he should not be leaving her alone anymore. i haven't seen her in a couple weeks. her gray roots are threatening to overtake her usually golden locks. he hasn't taken her lately to get it done, and she doesn't remember how to make the appointment i suppose. that sucks. i can just see her all alone in the house (she doesn't drive herself anywhere anymore), piddling, rattling around from one room to the next forgetting why she came. watching the news (she loves to watch the news), but she says she forgets from one story to the next, but that's ok, she doesn't really care anyway. since when? her cheerful disposition and relationship with her God is serving her well in this, the greatest trial of her life. her children are scattered and nowhere to be found as far as i can see. don't even ask me what i think about that. i asked if she is remembering to eat (her cooking days are far behind). she says she picks around, but i'll bet she is eating barely enough to keep a bird alive. she is still believing that the Lord will heal her, but the wait is getting quite long and beginning to wear on her. i wonder if she is remembering to take her meds. this sucks SO MUCH. i pray that God will bring a companion for her. she says that would be acceptable. someone to make sure her roots remain covered.

:( poor thing. at least we can rest knowing that one day she will be totally, completely, and wholly healed! even if it's later and we'd rather it be sooner.
